~4 min read v2.2.3 Fabric

Overview #

Hero Client is the Hero Studios client — a feature-rich modular Fabric client with 127 registered features across 16 categories: performance, visuals, HUD overlays, social tools and more — each carrying its real lifecycle from the mod's own FeatureRegistry (127 registered: 42 implemented and live, 85 planned — a registered feature is catalogued, not promised). It installs like any Fabric mod and runs as a Lunar-style mod menu (press M): category tabs, live search, and a feature card grid where every card shows whether the feature is stable, beta or experimental. The performance engine reports real FPS, average FPS, 1% low, a 240-slot frametime ring buffer and a CPU/RAM/TPS dashboard — numbers you can verify, not claims. BYOK AI assistance across six providers is planned for Phase 2 and is not yet shipped.

Most clients focus on a single feature or a locked-in experience. Hero Client is a feature-rich modular client with a feature registry of 127 entries across 16 categories — 42 implemented and live, 85 still planned — so nothing counts as shipped before it is. Performance, visuals, HUD, social and more, built as the natural home for the Hero Studios ecosystem, without sacrificing frames.

Quick start #

  1. Run Minecraft on Java 21 for 1.21.x (Java 25 for 26.x) — see the FAQ below if the client does not appear; a wrong JRE is the single most common cause.
  2. Install Fabric Loader for your exact Minecraft version (the downloads page lists the matching Fabric Loader, Fabric API and Java version for every release).
  3. Download the Hero Client JAR for your Minecraft version and Fabric API into your mods folder (%appdata%\.minecraft\mods on Windows).
  4. Launch the game with the Fabric profile so the config folders are created on first run.
  5. Press M to open the mod menu, browse category tabs, and use live search to find and toggle features.
  6. Press T for the performance panel (real FPS, frametime, CPU/RAM/TPS) and H for the HUD editor to drag, snap and persist HUD elements.
  7. Rebind keys in the Keybind Editor (M → Keybinds) — click-to-rebind, conflict detection, per-row reset; five actions ship unbound.
  8. Connect your AI provider keys (BYOK) for the AI assistant when it ships — planned for Phase 2, not yet available.

Configuration #

Hero Client keeps configuration in the .minecraft config folders (created on first launch) and exposes most tuning through in-game screens. Config validators (range, enum, TTL cache, diagnostics) catch invalid values instead of silently breaking a module.

Frequently asked questions #

Which Java version do I need?
Java 21. Minecraft 1.21.x will not start on an older JRE, and a newer JDK — 25, for example — fails before the game loads. If Hero Client does not appear at all, check this first: it is the single most common reason it looks broken.
Which Minecraft versions are supported?
1.21 through 1.21.11 today — 12 releases, each with its own JAR. Experimental 26.x builds are in progress; the downloads page lists the exact Fabric Loader, Fabric API and Java version for every release.
How do I install it?
Install Fabric Loader for your Minecraft version, drop the Hero Client JAR and Fabric API into your mods folder, launch with the Fabric profile, and press M. Java 21 for 1.21.x, Java 25 for 26.x.
Can I rebind keys?
Yes — the Keybind Editor (press M, then Keybinds) supports click-to-rebind, conflict detection and per-row reset. Every bind persists between sessions. Five actions ship unbound (Accessibility Settings, Backup, Keybind Editor, Macros, Guilds).
Is Hero Client a fork or a wrapper?
Neither — it is an original client built from scratch on Fabric.
Does it require an account?
No. Downloading and playing is free and account-free. An account is only used for optional social and cloud-sync features.
How does the AI assistant work?
Bring-your-own-key across OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini, Groq, OpenRouter and Ollama, with encrypted key storage. It is part of the planned Phase 2 parity pass — not yet shipped.
Is it stable yet?
Version 2.2 is in beta — the GUI, command framework, config validators and performance engine are in. Every feature carries the lifecycle the mod's registry gives it, so expect some rough edges while the experimental tier is wired up.
Is it client-side only?
Yes. Hero Client runs entirely on your machine and requires nothing on the server. Features that touch multiplayer state respect server rules.
How do I report a bug?
Use the support portal — it routes your report to the right place with the right details. The crash handler also produces a detailed report you can attach.
