Terms of service

Last updated: 6 November 2026. Earlier versions applied to the software-only period; this version adds accounts, purchases, credits, AI services and community rules.

1. Software license

Hero Studios software is distributed under the HBBML license. Check each project's license for exact terms.

2. Fair use

Do not use Hero Studios software to harm others, violate Minecraft's or any server's rules, or redistribute products without permission under the license terms.

3. Mods & servers

Always check server rules before using client-side mods like HeroSync. Hero Studios is not responsible for bans or penalties resulting from your use of our software on third-party servers.

4. Accounts

• Registration. An account needs a unique username and an email you control. Give accurate details — this is a real identity other users and entitlements attach to. You are responsible for everything that happens under your account.
• Credentials & 2FA. Keep your password confidential. Two-factor authentication is available and recommended; sessions expire (24 hours for API/mod sessions, 30 days for web sessions) and can be revoked from the account page.
• Suspension & termination by us. We may suspend or close an account for: materially breaching these terms; fraudulent checkout verification (submitting a reference that isn't your donation); abuse or harassment of staff or community members; attempted unauthorised access, exploitation of the platform, or disruption of the service; reselling or transferring account entitlements for real-world value without our written permission.
• Effect of closure. Sessions are revoked and entitlements stop. Records we must keep (for example purchase and checkout records required by accounting law) are retained as described in the privacy policy; everything else is deleted.
• Your side. If you believe your account was suspended in error, contact legal@herostudios.dev — we will review a reasoned appeal.

5. Purchases & store

• Digital goods. Store items (cosmetics, themes, tools) are digital goods licensed to your Hero Account — you receive a personal, non-transferable right to use them in Hero Studios products, not ownership of the underlying assets.
• Prices. All prices are displayed in US dollars (USD) before you confirm a purchase; what you see at checkout is what you pay.
• Checkout. Plan checkout runs through a DonationAlerts donation verified by an admin: your order is recorded as pending, nothing activates before verification, and no card data is collected on our side (details in the privacy policy). One pending order per account.
• Refunds. All sales are final and no refunds are issued for digital goods, except where your local law requires a refund, where we terminate the item or service without cause, or where we charged you in error. Contact billing@herostudios.dev for billing questions.
• Availability. Items may be retired from the store later; already-owned items stay on your account unless your account is closed or these terms are breached.

6. Credits & plans

• Monthly credit allowances. Every plan carries a monthly Hero Agent credit balance in USD: Free $5 · Pro $20 · Enterprise $50. Credits refill at the start of each monthly cycle (the cycle starts when a paid plan is activated) and never roll over.
• Per-slot rates. Agent usage is metered per message against those credits — current per-slot and build rates are published on the slots reference and in the billing rules shown in your account Plan tab. Failed generations are refunded automatically, a balance can never go negative (requests stop until top-up), and a single request is capped at $100.
• Prepaid, verified, non-withdrawable. Paid plans are prepaid by DonationAlerts donation and activated after admin verification. Credits are a service allowance only: they have no cash value, cannot be withdrawn, transferred or exchanged, and expire with the cycle or the plan.
• Exhaustion. When credits run out, paid-slot usage ends until you top up or the next cycle begins. The free tier continues to work within its own allowance.
• Reference. The authoritative billing rules live with the plan catalogue returned by the API and displayed on the Plan tab; if this summary and the live catalogue ever disagree, the live catalogue wins.

7. AI service terms

• Your prompts are processed by model providers. When you use Hero Agent (Hero Code), each message together with attached context (relevant files, memories, conversation history) is sent to the model provider serving that slot — see section 3 of the Hero Agent privacy notice for the exact data flows, including BYOK key handling.
• Acceptable use of the AI. Do not use the service to generate or distribute malware, to harass people, to violate privacy or third-party rights, to attempt to bypass provider safety controls, or to make automated calls at a volume that abuses the service. Free or paid, the same rules apply.
• No warranty of AI output. Model output is probabilistic: it can be wrong, incomplete, outdated or biased. It is provided "as is". Review outputs before relying on them — do not treat AI output as professional legal, medical, financial or security advice, and never as the sole basis for irreversible actions.
• You keep ownership of your inputs and, to the extent rights arise, your outputs; we claim no licence over your project files beyond what is needed to run the service (sync, preview, support).
• Slots and providers may change. Models, slot mappings, rates and availability can evolve; the current slots reference and plan catalogue always describe what is live at the time.

8. Community rules

• Be respectful. No harassment, hate, threats, spam, scams or impersonation of staff or other members, in Discord, support channels or anywhere our community gathers.
• Follow the rules of the spaces you use on our behalf (server rules, Discord terms) in addition to ours.
• Creator & partner disclosures. If you receive anything of value from Hero Studios — payment, free or discounted items, early access, prizes, referral rewards — you must disclose that connection in the content itself, near the endorsement. • Moderation actions (warning, mute, removal) are applied to protect the community; appeal through support.

9. Acceptable use

• No unlawful activity, fraud, or submission of false verification references through checkout.
• No probing, scanning or exploiting security vulnerabilities — report them privately to security@herostudios.dev, never through public channels.
• No scraping, harvesting or mass-messaging of user data; no automated abuse of APIs beyond documented rate limits.
• No interference with the service (overloading, tampering, reverse engineering except to the extent the law cannot be waived) and no resale of accounts, credits or entitlements.
• Do not use our names, marks or assets in a way that implies endorsement, affiliation or sponsorship that does not exist.

10. Disclaimers & limitation of liability

Software and services are provided "as is" without warranty of any kind, express or implied — including fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy of outputs, and uninterrupted availability. Back up your worlds before using experimental builds.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Hero Studios is not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential damages — lost data, worlds, progress, profits or goodwill — and our total liability for any claim arising out of these terms is limited to the amount you paid Hero Studios in the 12 months before the claim (or $0 if you have paid nothing). Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including for fraud or death/personal injury caused by negligence where such limits are prohibited.
