Install HeroOS #
Open HeroOS from the platform it targets — it is not a Minecraft mod, so the generic install guide below doesn't apply (see its product page for what it runs on).
- HeroOS is in development — there is no public build to install yet.
- Follow the roadmap to track keyboard, mouse, and user-mode progress.
- Join the community to get early milestones as they open up.

MultiMC / Prism users: these folders live inside Instances/<instance>/.minecraft/.
Configure #
Settings live in the config folder (JSON5 files you can edit by hand) and, where available, in the in-game settings screen the mod adds. The exact keys and keybinds are listed in the documentation and the FAQ below.
Tips for HeroOS #
- Keep HeroOS on the version range shown on its product page.
- If it doesn't load, confirm the JAR is in the right mods folder for the launcher and version you chose.
- Bedrock Edition, mobile, and console can't run Java Edition mods or packs — for a port or custom variant, request a commission.

Is HeroOS a Minecraft mod?
No — it is a standalone operating system written in Rust.
Can I run it on my PC?
Not yet. It runs in an emulator today; real-hardware support is a v1.0 goal.
Will it really replace Windows?
That is the long-term vision — an honest, milestone-by-milestone path.
Can I download a build?
Not yet. There are no public builds until later milestones are reached.
